That’s why we’ve been on the hunt for a lipstick that will last through lunchtime, at least. Luckily, in today’s market, long-wear lipsticks have come a long way from the dry, flaking formulas we dealt with 20 years ago. Your lifestyle will always impact how long your lippie lasts, but we’ve found some great contenders for everyone. Here are some of our best go-to colors that won’t budge. Maybelline New York SuperStay Matte Ink (Image source: amazon.com) Do you have trouble getting the line just right with liquid lipsticks? We love the precision Maybelline’s unique applicator tip provides. Not to mention, it comes in 20 shades and usually costs under 10 bucks! As one Ulta reviewer raves, “I work 12 hour shifts and always wear color on my lips. Tried this just to try something cheaper than the others and it [didn’t] disappoint. It stayed all day better than the others.” Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick (Image source: influenster.com) Most saturated liquid long-wearing lipsticks come in a matte finish, but Vice offers up some metallic finishes, too. Unfortunately, Urban Decay plans to discontinue, but will likely relaunch a similar long-wearing product. In the meantime, you can browse it on sale now, or find it on sites like eBay. NYX Liquid Suede Cream (Image source: amazon.com) The one word we’d use to describe this is “plush”. The formula is very soft, and the staying power is definitely there. It’s also developed a pretty serious cult following, with one review explaining, “I own just about every color in this line. That’s how much I love it. It’s the only affordable liquid lipstick I can get an even application with in just one layer. It lasts all day, and isn’t near as drying as other brands I’ve used.” Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid (Image source: ebay.co.uk) Although the shade range here is rather limited, Fenty knocked it out of the park when it comes to saturated color and an applicator that sets you up for success. The best shades to try are Uncensored (red) and Unbuttoned (peachy nude). Uncensored in particular is considered a universal red that even the most timid lipstick wearers can feel great in. Add in the range of totally wearable neutral shades, and we have a winner. Per reviews, it may be a good pick in particular for ladies who lunch: “I ate a full lunch with wine and it lasted the entire time. I was shocked I had anything left on my lips. Highly recommend.” Revlon ColorStay Overtime (Image source: amazon.com) If you’ve been wearing long-wear lipsticks for a long time, you remember ColorStay Overtime. But there have clearly been some upgrades to the formula over the years, as it doesn’t flake the way it once may have. We love the included topcoat, and must affirm that it is indeed completely kiss-proof. One reviewer even says that it stayed on through a shower, and remained into the next day! Stila Stay All Day (Image source: makeupalley.com) Our first luxury long-wear lipstick was by Stila, and they’re still offering solid options today. Their liquid long-wear even comes in satin and shimmer finishes, all promising 12 hours of wear and adequate hydration for lips. Don’t buy it? One Sephora shopper says, “I have struggled with dry lips all my life. Usually a matte long last lipstick will make the skin on my lips feel uncomfortable and then peel off. But this Stila version? Seriously, hands down the best lipstick I have ever used. And it stays for hours, even through meals.”
